Job Summary
At Haven Home Care, we believe every client deserves to feel safe, respected, and expertly cared for in their own haven: their home. Founded and operated by a local LPN with a passion for high-standard clinical care, we are looking for dedicated HCAs who view home care not just as a job, but as a calling to provide dignity and comfort to our neighbours in Lethbridge & surrounding area.
This role involves delivering personalized client care, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for home care clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to caregiving, excellent interpersonal skills, and experience in related settings.
Duties
Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Provide compassionate patient care tailored to individual needs, including dementia and senior care
Support medication administration following proper protocols and documentation procedures
Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed
Perform light cleaning duties to maintain a hygienic environment
Assist with light housekeeping tasks to ensure a safe living space
Support clients during outings or appointments and help with transportation arrangements
Monitor and report any changes in health status or behaviour to supervisor
Engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being and companionship
Work collaboratively with an interprofessional team to deliver comprehensive care
Qualifications
Valid HCA certification and in good standing with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory (including the upcoming regulatory requirements taking effect February 2026)
Current BLS certification
Minimum 3 years' experience in home care or a closely related health care setting
Current Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, within the last 6 months
Valid Class 5 driver's license, clean driver's abstract, and access to a reliable personal vehicle for travel between client homes
Knowledge of patient care techniques including dementia, senior, and disability care
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for mobility assistance or transfers
Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate and respectful approach
Excellent communication skills
Certification or training in medication administration is a plus but not mandatory
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends depending on client needs

Administer medications and treatments accurately following physician orders and established protocols
Monitor patient vital signs and assess health status regularly
Assist with patient mobility, hygiene, and comfort measures
Accurately document all aspects of care using the EMR
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care plans
Educate patients and families about health conditions, medication management, and care instructions
Assist with pain management strategies and symptom control
Support case management efforts by coordinating services and communicating patient needs effectively
Ensure compliance with safety standards, infection control protocols, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Active registration and in good standing with the CLPNA
Ability to work to the full scope of LPN practice
Minimum 3 years' experience in home care or a closely related health care setting
Current Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, obtained within the last 6 months
Valid Class 5 driver's license, clean driver's abstract, and access to a reliable personal vehicle for travel between client homes
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
Prior experience in nursing home or assisted living facilities preferred
Experience working with dementia, hospice, or senior care populations is advantageous
Foot care or other advanced practice authorizations an asset
